Campaigning for Delhi civic poll ends

New Delhi, April 21 (IANS) The high-voltage campaigning for Delhi municipal elections ended on Friday.

Voting for the 272 seats of the three municipal corporations will be held on Sunday.

The last day witnessed continuous campaigns by the big leaders of main political parties including the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress in a last bid attempt to woo the voters through public meetings, road shows, and road to road canvassing.

E-rickshaws decked with the banners and pamphlets of respective political parties were seen doing rounds of different localities across the city.

Senior AAP leaders including Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, Kapil Mishra, Dilip Pandey held public meetings and road shows in different parts of the city to woo the voters, while Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal led a road show in Kalkaji area of south Delhi/

BJP Delhi President Manoj Tiwari, who campaigned in different parts of the city, ended his "Vijay Vikas Yatra" campaign for civic polls, in Saket area of south Delhi.

Delhi votes on Sunday to elect a new South Delhi, an East Delhi and a North Delhi Municipal Corporation. All three were earlier one single body: Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The results will be announced on April 26.

North Delhi Municipal Corporation and South Delhi Municipal Corporation have 104 seats each and East Delhi Municipal Corporation has 64 seats.
