Delhi has hottest day in 7 years at 42.5 C, heat wave continuesNew Delhi, April 19 (IANS) Delhi had the hottest day of this summer on Wednesday at 42.5 degrees Celsius, which was also the maximum temperature recorded for April 19 in seven years, an IMD official said.

The heat wave conditions prevailing in the national capital will continue till Saturday, when the temperature may drop a bit, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

"There is a possibility of rain and dust storm on April 22 (Saturday)," the official added.

 

The maximum of 42.5 degrees on Wednesday was five notches above the season's average. The minimum during the day was 25.4 degrees.

According to the IMD official, Thursday may bring slight respite due to partly cloudy sky, with the maximum expected to be 41 degrees Celsius.

April 19 last year recorded a maximum of 40 degrees, 38 degrees in 2015, 30 degrees in 2014, 38 degrees in 2013, 34 degrees in 2012, and 34 degrees Celsius in 2011.
