New Delhi, April 17 (IANS) Delhi residents continued to bear the scorching heat as the maximum temperature soared to 41.2 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average. Ruling out any respite, the weather office predicting the heat wave to continue for some more days.
"The sky will remain mainly clear throughout the day on Tuesday. Heat waves will continue in Delhi for a few days. The temperature can reach 42 degrees Celsius by the end of the week," an official at India Meteorological Department (IMD) told IANS.
The weather office said that the maximum and minimum temperatures on Tuesday are expected to hover around 41 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to Skymet, a private weather forecaster, Delhi will get hotter in the days to come but it might get some respite next week.
"Heat waves will continue to lash Delhi for a few days but due to western disturbance the city may receive rains on April 24 and 25," Skymet Director Mahesh Palawat told IANS.
The minimum temperature of the day was recorded at 25.5 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average.
