In a statement issued here, Volvo Cars said the Polestar is the quickest car from Volvo's stable, making 0 to 100 km/hour sprint in just 4.7 seconds and having a top speed of 250 km/hour.
According to the company, Polestar has taken an original S60 and added a bigger turbo, a supercharger, new conrods, new camshafts, a larger air intake and a higher capacity fuel pump to augment the engine; matched it with a BorgWarner four-wheel drive system and the new Polestar-optimised eight-speed Geartronic automatic gearbox.
The Polestar has reduced the car's weight by 24 kg lighter over the front axle and 20 kg lighter in total compared to the previous model years.
"This car is remarkably quick," Volvo Auto India Managing Director Tom von Bonsdorff was quoted as saying in the statement.
"But it is more than that. It combines Polestar's 20 years racing pedigree with Volvo's inherent pragmatism and engineering heritage. It is a racing car that you can use every day of the year, be it track or city roads," he added.
