Good Friday observed in Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram

Shillong, April 14 (IANS) With fasts and day-long prayer services in churches, Christians in the Christian-majority states of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram observed the occasion of Good Friday.

Marking the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, faithful of the Roman Catholic Church took out a procession to the Calvary in towns and villages of the three states.

"Good Friday is of great significance to the Christian community because it signifies the love that Jesus has and lets the world witness this by learning from his tragic death of his own choice," a local said.

Other church denominations like the Presbyterian Church and the Baptist Church also held services.
