Mercury soars in Punjab, Haryana; Hisar hottest at 42 degrees

Chandigarh, April 13 (IANS) Punjab and Haryana sizzled on Thursday as mercury in different cities across the two states recorded maximums between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius, the Met office here said.

Hisar town in Haryana was the hottest in the region on Thursday at a high of 42 degrees, five degrees above average.

Patiala and Ludhiana were hot at 39.3 and 39.1 degrees respectively, five degrees above average.

Amritsar recorded a high of 38.2 degrees, six degrees above average. The minimum temperature here was 13.6 degrees.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 38.3 degrees, while Ambala saw a high of 38 degrees.

Met officials said heat wave conditions will prevail in the region in the coming days.
