Still have faith in Pakistan judiciary, says Azad on Jadhav case

New Delhi, April 12 (IANS) The Congress on Wednesday said it doesn't trust the Pakistan Army tribunal order on capital punishment to alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav but "still has faith in Pakistan's judiciary".

"We don't trust the Pakistan Army tribunal's order. We don't believe them... but more avenues and opportunities are before us as to how we can protect Jadhav. This has to go to the apellate court now," senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said.

"The second opportunity is he can go to the Supreme Court. The third opportunity is he can approach the President of Pakistan," said the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

"This is what I raised with External Affairs Minister (Sushma Swaraj) yesterday (Tuesday). We should not expect anything from the Pakistan Army but we still have some faith in Pakistan's judiciary. The judiciary here or in Pakistan are supposed to be judicious..."

"If they are judicious enough they should treat him an innocent person," said Azad.

Jadhav was arrested on March 3, 2016, reportedly in Balochistan. He has been accused of "involvement in espionage and sabotage activities against Pakistan".
