New Delhi, April 11 (IANS) A Delhi court on Tuesday slammed the Noida police for not properly probing charges that some complainants were being threatened for filing FIRs against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and three others over alleged irregularities in grant of contracts for civic work in Delhi.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abhilash Malhotra's remarks came while hearing Noida police submission that it could not substantiate the allegations levelled by the complainants and that the complaints were false.
The magistrate expressed his unhappiness over the report and observed that without probing the allegations, the police could not come to such conclusion. The court also noted that there was no document or case diary with the police.
The court directed the Noida police to file a detailed report on April 26.
The court is hearing a criminal complaint filed by founder of Roads Anti-Corruption Organisation (RACO) Rahul Sharma and Organisation Secretary Viplav Awasthy. It is being probed by the Delhi Police's Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB).
In three FIRs lodged at different police stations in Delhi and Noida, Sharma and Awasthy have alleged that they are receiving threats.
The ACB told the court that inquiries were being made from the complainants and from police stations probing the threat charges.
Complainants' counsel Kislay Pandey had told the court that they were getting serious threats and being pressurised to withdraw their complaints.
Sharma has also sought filing of an FIR against Kejriwal, his brother-in-law Surender Kumar Bansal, the proprietor of a construction company, and an officer of the Public Works Department (PWD) for cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy.
Sharma alleged that they cheated the government and defrauded the government treasury of over Rs 10 crore in criminal connivance with P.K. Kathuria, who was posted then as an Executive Engineer in Delhi Public Works Department (PWD).
He alleged that Bansal, who is proprietor of Renu Construction, operated through several dummy firms to obtain government contracts to build and improve roads and sewer lines in connivance with officials of the PWD.
He further alleged that the works never got executed, but all the payments were cleared under the pressure of Kejriwal.
