2.25 lakh consumers avail of BSES cash-back scheme

New Delhi, April 11 (IANS) The cash-back scheme to encourage digital payment of bills offered by BSES, one of the two power distribution companies (discoms) in Delhi saw around 2.25 lakh consumers availing benefits amounting to Rs 1 crore, the company said on Tuesday.

In a statement here BSES said that, during February and March, its sister discoms in the capital - BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) - respectively had around 1.5 lakh and 75,000 customers who availed the cash-back offer.

"The total value of the cash-back given to consumers is around Rs 1 crore," the statement said.

"Consumers of BRPL and BYPL received upto Rs 200 cash back on their electricity bills between February and March 31, 2017. All they had to do was to pay the bills before the due-date through the websites/apps of Paytm, MobiKwik and PhonePe," it said.

"Consumers with the due date of their electricity bill in April 2017 were also eligible to participate, provided they paid their bill by March 31, 2017," it added.

"Apart from e-wallets, consumers could pay their electricity bills conveniently at over 4,000 locations, through a wide spectrum of options, including BSES drop boxes, credit and debit cards, net banking, auto debit, neighbourhood Easy Bill, Money N Mobile and Oxigen outlets, ITZ Cash Cards, bill payment kiosks, cheque in mail facility and RTGS / NEFT through banks for key consumers," a BSES spokesperson said.
