Ghaziabad, April 5 (IANS) A car driver was burnt alive after his speeding car caught fire after ramming an electric pole early on Wednesday, police said.
The incident occurred in Shalimar Garden area under Sahibabad police station at about 4 a.m., police said, adding the car coming from towards Delhi hit the pole near Lohia Park.
The collision resulted in such a loud sound that many residents of nearby apartments woke up. As people came towards the spot to rescue the driver, the car burst into flames.
Police was also informed and reached the spot.
The driver was later identified as Zaid Khan, 26, resident of A-26/F-5 Shalimar Garden.
"The family members have been informed and the body has been sent for postmortem," said Superintendent of Police, City, Salman Taj Patil.
