Miami, March 26 (IANS) Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro rolled to a 6-2, 6-4 win over the Netherlands' Robin Haase, setting up a third-round showdown with Swiss great Roger Federer at the Miami Open.
"You train for this," Del Potro said after Saturday night's match at the Crandon Park Tennis Center here, reports Efe.
Del Potro acknowledged that Federer, who beat American teenager Frances Tiafoe 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 in the second round, was the "super favourite" in their third-round clash.
The Argentine said he was aware of the expectations among fans over his match with Federer, adding that the Swiss star was the best this season and the best in history.
In other men's action, Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut defeated Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), while Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka defeated Argentina's Horacio Zeballos 6-3, 6-4.
Germany's Alexander Zverev, the No. 16 seed, took out Chinese Taipei's Yen-Hsun Lu 6-0, 6-3.
Croatia's Borna Coric took out Austria's Dominic Thiem 6-1, 7-5 in the big upset of the day.
On the women's side, Spain's Garbi?e Muguruza rallied to beat China's Shuai Zhang 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, while American Bethanie Mattek-Sands defeated Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.
Croatia's Mirjana Lucic-Baroni upset Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska 6-0, 6-3.
Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki outplayed Romania's Sorana Cirstea 6-4, 6-2.
