Jammu, March 24 (IANS) The Election Commission on Friday put on hold the appointments of vice chairmen in PSUs of the Jammu and Kashmir government in view of the Model Code of Conduct that is in place ahead of two Lok Sabha bypolls in April.
The poll panel, sources said, acted following complaints by the opposition National Conference that the state government had violated the Code by making the appointments after the poll schedule was announced.
The National Conference had complained that activists of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party had been appointed PSU vice chairs and board members after the poll schedule was announced.
