Panaji, March 22 (IANS) With traffic snarls holding up legislators from making it to the Goa assembly's budget session inaugural on time, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday pointed out to newly appointed Speaker Pramod Sawant that the assembly clock was running four minutes fast.
"While stopping my speech, I only want to make one request. The house watch is running fast and one problem which has cropped up is traffic congestion, so members may not reach on time," Parrikar said.
"Cabral (BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral) did not reach because he got stuck up in the traffic jam. But more important than that, the house clock is running fast by four minutes. It should be rectified. It could be running a minute slow, but it should not be running fast," Parrikar said.
Congress legislator Aleixo Reginaldo also could not make it to the state assembly in time due to traffic snarls.
Newly appointed Speaker Pramod Sawant said that Parrikar's suggestion would be looked into. Pramod, a homoeopathic practitioner by profession, was elected as the Speaker of the state assembly on Wednesday.
