Gurugram, March 22 (IANS) Six persons were injured when members of two communities clashed on Wednesday in a Gurugram village over casteist remarks on a social networking site and WhatsApp chat, police said.
Two of the injured suffered gunshot wounds during the clash in nearby Begumpur Khatola village following a panchayat meeting called to discuss the issue.
Later, members of one community allegedly rallied help from outside and vandalised over a dozen vehicles in the village.
Police said members of both communities had been posting remarks on social media and sending WhatsApp messages against each other, which were shared by a couple of village youths.
Police said after the panchayat meeting ended with no positive outcome, the youths from the two communities clashed.
Police have registered cross-FIRs on the basis of complaints from both communities.
Police was deployed as tension prevailed in the village. A senior police officer said no one has been arrested yet.
