Madagascar's Ahmed elected CAF President
Cairo, March 16 (IANS) The head of Madagascar's soccer federation, Ahmed Ahmed, was on Thursday elected the new president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), after defeating CAF's former president, Issa Hayatou.

Ahmed, who will now lead CAF from 2017 through 2021, won the election with 34 votes against 20 for Cameroon's Hayatou, who had been president of the confederation for almost three decades, reports Efe.

The CAF presidential elections were held on Thursday on the sidelines of the confederation's general assembly meeting at Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
