New Delhi, March 8 (IANS) Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday announced an increase of over 15 per cent in its support to the local bodies.
"For the 2017-18, government proposes support of Rs 7,571 crore to local municipal bodies, that makes up to 15.8 per cent of the budget," said Manish Sisodia, while delivering his third consecutive budget for the Delhi government.
He also announced measures to increase the capacity of Delhi government-run schools, and the construction of 10,000 new classrooms in the upcoming financial year.
Sisodia announced hiking the payment of guest lecturers from Rs 17,000-Rs 21,000 to Rs 25,000-Rs 36,000.
The pension for handicapped and women from this financial year has been increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500.
Delhi government's budget for financial 2017-18 breaks away from the tradition of Plan and Non-Plan category.
The Budget allocation in this financial has been marked only between capital and revenue.
Calling the budget as the first Outcome Budget, Sisodia said that the Outcome Budget is a contract between government and its department. Government's work is to not only spend the budget money but to ensure the results of the expenditure, he added.
