New Delhi, March 8 (IANS) US-based software-as-a-service provider Cvent on Wednesday announced that it would impart skills to underserved youth, including women for jobs in the Indian IT industry.
"We will provide job-related skills in voice and non-voice Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to underserved youth and women for job opportunities in the IT and IT-enabled sector," said Cvent India in a statement here.
The technology major has tied up with Nasscom Foundation, the social arm of the IT industry's apex body, to launch the Cvent India Employability Enhancement Programme for training the youth, 40 per cent of whom will be women.
"Our partnership with the Nasscom Foundation will give future leaders a chance to learn career-critical skills at an early age," said Cvent Founder and Chief Executive Officer Reggie Aggarwal in the statement.
In the first phase, the company's Indian subsidiary will train 120 youth for three months from the third week of this month at Centum Foundation and its designated centres at Gurugram.
"Training will be as per the guidelines of the National Skills Development Corporation in a classroom by an instructor to equip the youth with the SSC Nasscom qualification pack for CRM voice and CRM non-voice jobs," said Aggarwal.
Admitting that India had been a critical growth enabler for the company, he said reinvesting in the country and its people would help the local economy and build the next generation of technology leaders.
On completion of the training programme, the youth will be given certificates from Cvent India, Nasscom IT-ITeS Sector Skill Council and Centum Foundation.
"Along with Nasscom Foundation, we will ensure at least 50 per cent of the trained youth get jobs through placement drives and job fairs," said Aggarawal.
Lauding the programme, Nasscom Foundation Chief Executive Shrikant Sinha said the partnership with Cvent was a win-win for the youth and the industry.
"The partnership is an example of how CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds can be used to create job opportunities for the youth of our country," he said.
