Malaga (Spain), March 8 (IANS) Newly-appointed Malaga chief coach Jose Michel Gonzalez oversaw on Wednesday first training session in readiness for La Liga football match against Alaves on Saturday.
Michel, named the new coach of Malaga on Tuesday to replace Uruguayan Marcelo 'Gato' Romero, arrived in Malaga on Tuesday afternoon, met with the club's sports director, Francesc Arnau, and visited the facilities of La Rosaleda, reports Efe.
The coach from Madrid met the members of the squad on Wednesday morning and led a training session in the club's stadium.
Michel replaces Gato, who led Malaga for 10 games in La Liga, achieving one victory, two draws and seven losses, the last happening on Sunday against Athletic Club de Bilbao (0-1).
Malaga noted in a statement that "Michel has wide experience in the dugout in Spanish football, with Rayo Vallecano, Real Madrid Castilla, Sevilla FC and Getafe CF, the latter with whom he qualified to the UEFA Europa League in the 2009/10 season".
