Tata Motors’ February sales up 2%


Mumbai, March 1 (IANS) Indian automobile major Tata Motors on Wednesday reported a rise of two per cent in its total vehicle sales for last month.

According to the company, its total passenger and commercial vehicle sales, including exports, in February 2017 rose to 47,573 units from 46,674 units sold in the like month of last year.

"Tata Motors' passenger vehicle business grew by 12 per cent in February owing to a continued strong demand for the Tata Tiago," said Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors.

"Our recently launched lifestyle UV HEXA, has received an encouraging response and going forward our robust product portfolio will drive growth in the coming months."

The automobile major's domestic sales were higher by three per cent to 42,679 units over 41,532 units sold during the corresponding period of last year.

However, the company's exports declined by five per cent to 4,894 units during the month under review from 5,142 units shipped out in February 2016.
