Bhopal, March 1 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh government will launch a scheme for providing financial assistance to meritorious students going for higher studies from the next financial year, according to the annual budget presented in the state legislature on Wednesday.
Presenting the budget for the financial year 2017-18, Finance Minister Jayant Malaiya gave details of the "Mukhyamantri Medhavi Vidyarthi Yojana", which is proposed to come into effect from April this year.
He said that under the scheme, the government will pay fees of the students getting admission in prestigious institutions after scoring a minimum of 85 per cent marks in Class XII.
"A separate corpus of Rs 1,000 crore will be created for the purpose, and for now, Rs 500 crore has allocated under the head," Malaiya said.
