Berlin, March 1 (IANS) Frankfurt progressed into the last four after beating second-division side Arminia Bielfeld 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the German Cup.
Both sides staged fast paced encounter in the opening period with promising chances at both ends of the pitch on Tuesday, reports Xinhua news agency.
The hosts, however, showed a clinical chance conversion and broke the deadlock with just six minutes into the game as Danny Blum capitalised on a deflected cross to tap home from close range.
It remained the only goal of the match but the lower league side kept it bowling and pressed frenetically for the equaliser.
But their efforts remained fruitless as the "Eagles" were able to protect the narrow lead to the end.
"I am not satisfied with the team's performance but ultimately I am happy that we have reached the semi-finals," Eintracht Frankfurt's head coach Niko Kovac said.
"We always tried to play offensively minded but we still conceded a goal," Arminia Bielefeld's head coach Juergen Kramny said.
Elsewhere, the other quarterfinal fixture between Borussia Dortmund and third-division team Lotte has been postponed due to an unplayable pitch.
