Hyderabad, March 1 (IANS) IPS officer D.R. Doley Barman on Wednesday took over as the director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy here.
She took the charge at an official function held in the academy.
Currently serving as Director, North East Police Academy (NEPA), Shillong, the Indian Police Service (IPS) officer will hold dual charge for the time being, a SVPNPA statement said.
Barman, a 1986 batch officer of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre, succeeded Aruna Bahugana, who demited office on Tuesday on reaching superannuation.
She has held several important posts in Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and also in Union Home Affairs Ministry.
She is a recipient of Sher-e-Kashmir Medal for Meritorious Service, Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service and the President's Medal for Distinguished Service.
