Guwahati, Feb 28 (IANS) A consignment of 258 kg of ganja has been seized from a truck carrying an IAF officer's household stuff in Assam's Kokrajhar district, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday evening when police, acting on a tip off, intercepted a truck at Karigaon area in the district.
"The vehicle was used by an Indian Air Force officer to ferry his household stuff from Shillong to New Delhi where he had been transferred," said a senior police official on Tuesday.
"During the search, we have recovered 258 kgs of ganja hidden in 19 packets," he said adding that two persons including the driver and an IAF staff are being interrogated.
Police suspect that the ganja consignment was bound for Delhi or some other place enroute.
