BSF hands over Pakistani trespasser to Rangers


Amritsar, Feb 27 (IANS) The Border Security Force (BSF) has handed over to Pakistani authorities a man who had crossed into Indian territory inadvertently in the Gurdaspur sector, officials said here on Monday.

The Pakistani national, Sabir Hussain, aged around 50 years, and resident of Narowal in Pakistan, was apprehended by BSF troopers on Sunday, after he inadvertently crossed the International Boundary, a BSF spokesman said.

The Pakistani national was apprehended in the operation area of Border Out Post (BoP) Kassowal in Gurdaspur sector, the BSF spokesman said.

"The Pakistan Rangers were contacted today (Monday) and the apprehended Pakistani national was handed over to them on humanitarian ground and considering that he had inadvertently crossed the border," the spokesman added.
