Mumbai, Feb 25 (IANS) Model-turned-actor Freddy Daruwala, who plays a pivotal role in "Commando 2: The Black Money Trail", says the career span of a model is very short and that it was a nature shift for him to enter the world of acting.
Asked if acting was the obvious next choice after modelling, Freddy told IANS: "Yes, it was a natural choice for me, to shift from modelling to acting. As a student, I used to do lot of drama in school and college. I was culturally very active on stage performance.
"However, I came to Mumbai for modelling. During those days, apart from photoshoots, I also did ad commercials and that's when I realise that I am enjoying to perform in front of the camera."
After deciding to focus on acting, Freddy attended various acting workshop sharpen his skill to become an actor.
"Attending workshops helped me to come back to the rhythm of acting all over again, as I was a bit away from that busy modelling," he said.
Although he received huge appreciation for his screen presence and performance in both his film "Holiday- A Solider is Never Off Duty" and "Force 2", he is mostly offered to play gray characters in films.
"Well, yes, I felt like a victim of being typecast. However, it is just about getting an opportunity to prove my versatility, as I am confident about my talent. Interestingly, my character in 'Commando 2: The Black Money Trail' is multi-layered," said Freddy.
The actor currently signed a three-film deal with Vipul Shah and expecting to do some interesting roles in his upcoming films. Freddy also shot for an independent film "Umeed".
Produced by Shah, directed by Deven Bhojani, the film "Commando 2: The Black Money Trail" is releasing on March 3.
