Kolkata, Feb 23 (IANS) The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) added another 500 megawatt (MW) of thermal power generation capacity after commissioning of Bokaro plant on Thursday, a company official said.
"DVC declares COD (Commercial Operation Date) of 1 x 500 MW unit of Bokaro thermal power station in the district of Bokaro, Jharkhand from 12 a.m. of February 23," the official said.
The power utility, which also added 1200 MW (2 x 600 MW) thermal power to its system in the last year, has emerged as the largest power generating utility of Eastern India having total installed capacity of 7,787.2 MW in thermal and hydel power.
