New Delhi, Feb 22 (IANS) The AAP government on Wednesday approved a loan of Rs 200 crore to the North Delhi Municipal Corporation for payment of salaries of employees.
"A Rs 200-crore loan to the North MCD was approved today (Wednesday) for payment of salaries to its employees. The Finance Department has been ordered to release the funds," a government official told IANS.
The official said the MCD has been given Rs 1,104.89 crore, excluding the loan amount, in the current financial year.
"In the 2016-17 fiscal, the total money given to the MCD is Rs 1,304.89 crore," the official said.
In 2015-16, when the Aam Aadmi Party was in power, the Delhi government released around Rs 1,207 crore. This figure stood at around Rs 767 crore in 2012-13, Rs 802 crore in 2013-14 and Rs 848 crore in 2014-15.
In January, employees of East and North Delhi Municipal Corporations went on a strike over non-payment of their salaries.
