Kolkata, Feb 19 (IANS) A female school teacher committed suicide after being teased by her colleagues in West Bengal's Darjeeling district, police said on Sunday, adding that two persons have been arrested in this connection.
"A female teacher of a local school committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in her house in Siliguri's Shaktigarh locality on Saturday night," an officer from New Jalpaiguri Police Station said.
According to police, the woman was being harassed by the accused for the last few months and was depressed as a result.
"The woman was allegedly being teased for the last few months by some of her colleagues and a few others while on her way to school," the officer said.
"We found a suicide note besides the body that named two of her colleagues. Both have been arrested," he added.
The brother of the deceased said her sister was often harassed by some men in the locality, adding that the family was threatened to leave their house which is built on a large piece of land.
"My sister was often teased by some people on her way to school. These people also threatened us to leave our house so that they can capture the land," he said.
