17 political parties take out rally in Kolkata
Kolkata, Feb 18 (IANS) Seventeen political parties, including the Left Front partners, on Saturday brought out a rally in south Kolkata demanding Mamata Banerjee government withdraw a law that seeks to penalise persons and groups for damaging public property.

The rally, led by Left Front spearhead Communist Party of India-Marxist, raised slogans demanding repeal of the "black law" -- West Bengal Maintenance of Public Order (Amendment) Bill, 2017.

They also demanded that the government stop arresting the leaders of recent protest movement in South 24 Parganas district's Bhangar against a Power Grid Corporation project.

 

The rally began from Golpark-Gariahat junction and ended at Jatin Das Park in the Hazra area.

Left Front Chairman Biman Bose, CPI-M leaders Asim Dasgupta and Rabin Deb, and frontrankers of Communist Party of India, All India forward Bloc, Revolutionary Socialist Party, Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist), Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist (Liberation) and other outfits took part in the rally that created a big traffic snarl in parts of south Kolkata.
