Shivajians to be fined for pre-match presser snub


Kolkata, Feb 17 (IANS) Pune football team DSK Shivajians are set to be fined for not turning up at the pre-match press conference ahead of their 10th round I-League encounter against Mohun Bagan here on Friday.

The Pune-based team will have to cough up Rs 20,000 in line with Article 36(b) of the league regulations.

According to the diktat, "The head coaches of participating clubs and one (1) starting player from each club are obliged to attend and participate in a pre-match press conference to be held at least one day before the match. The participating club's media officer must ensure the attendance of the head coach and one starting player."

Any infringement, "will result in disciplinary action which may include a fine of a minimum of Rs 20,000 and the head coach may be subject to a ban from the dressing room and/or the substitutes bench," the regulation reads.

Shivajians are sixth on the points table having 10 points from nine matches.
