Two more arrested over Kim Jong-nam killing

Kuala Lumpur, Feb 16 (IANS) Two more suspects were arrested in connection with the killing of the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the police said.

So far, three arrests have been made in the case, Malay Mail Online reported.

Kim Jong-nam, 46, was believed to have been poisoned by two women on Monday as he waited for a flight at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia.

A first female suspect was arrested on Wednesday. The woman was identified as 28-year-old Doan Thi Huong and she was carrying a Vietnamese passport.

The second female suspect was arrested on Thursday and was holding an Indonesian passport that identified her as 25-year-old Siti Aishah, the police statement said. Both women were identified from surveillance footage of the airport.

She was detained hours after a Malaysian man, believed to be her boyfriend, was arrested on Wednesday night. Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said that the man was a 26-year-old Malaysian.

"Suspect is currently remanded in custody to assist investigation," he added.

Selangor police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said: "He is not the main suspect. We detained him because we needed more information about the second suspect. He is her boyfriend."

"When we got him, (and) through him, we managed to detain the second suspect," he added.

The two female suspects were remanded in custody for seven days.

Kim was attacked at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport as he was about to leave on a flight to Macau. He sought help, collapsed and died on his way to hospital.

A post-mortem of the body was completed on Wednesday night, but the police have not given any details.

North Korea had objected to the autopsy but Malaysia went ahead with the procedure anyway as the North did not submit a formal protest, said a senior Malaysian police official.
