New Delhi, Feb 16 (IANS) Delhi Labour Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday said the government will send the file on revision of minimum wages to Lt. Governor Anil Baijal for approval after getting the Cabinet nod.
The then Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung returned the file last year to the government citing discrepancies. "All discrepancies have been removed now and we hope to get timely approval from the Lt. Governor," Rai told the media here.
A new committee was formed to remove the discrepancies and several meetings were held in this connection.
"The final committee meeting was held on Wednesday. The panel will soon submit its report to the government. We will send the file to Baijal within 10 days of the Cabinet nod," Rai said.
The Delhi Cabinet in August last year approved revision in the minimum wages by about 50 per cent in the national capital.
The Aam Aadmi Party's government proposed minimum monthly wages for unskilled workers to increase from Rs 9,568 to Rs 14,052, for semi-skilled workers from Rs 10,582 to Rs 15,471, and for skilled workers from Rs 11,622 to Rs 17,033.
