Hyderabad, Feb 12 (IANS) Protection of life and property, faith and culture is the key issue faced by Muslims in India, said speakers at a meeting called here Sunday to discuss the community's problems.
They were unanimous that Muslims should give top priority to protection of 'shariat', Islamic identity, culture and values.
The meeting of Muslims groups and scholars was called by Wahdat-e-Islami Hind, a religious organisation, to discuss the Muslim issues and attempt to find a solution.
Voicing concern over the 'saffronisation' of education system, Wahdat-e-Islami General Secretary Ziauddin Siddiqui said the process of bringing a cultural change was being implemented silently and called for united efforts by all sections of the community to counter these attempts.
Siddiqui stressed the need to work with courage and determination to overcome all odds.
The meeting mooted the idea of setting up counseling centres to create awareness about 'Shariat' and to check crimes. It was also suggested that a 'Baitulmaal' be set up at the city level to solve various socio-economic problems.
The speakers agreed that there is a greater need for unity in community by rising above the sectarian differences.
Moulana Naseeruddin said that the community should not lose heart and continue its work with high morale for improving their conditions.
