Italian woman says IS attacker lived with her

Berlin, Feb 11 (IANS/AKI) An Italian woman has claimed that Anis Amri, the Tunisian Islamic State (IS) supporter who allegedly drove a truck into a Christmas market in Berlin killing 12 people, lived with her for several months.

The woman, called Jessica told German tabloid Bild that she recognised Amri on TV and "began shaking all over" when she saw his face.

Police searched Jessica's home the day after Amri was killed by police in a shoot-out in the northern city of Milan on December 23 during a routine check.

Jessica's Tunisian husband, who is in jail for a drugs conviction, met Amri at a Lampedusa refugee camp in 2011.

A few weeks after he arrived at Jessica's home in the summer of 2015, Amri moved to Germany "for a job", she told Bild.

She claimed Amri had never said anything to her about IS other than that "it has nothing to do with the Koran".

But Jessica said she had noticed he had Facebook friends who used the IS flag as their profile picture.

Police searched two apartments in the towns of Latina and Aprilia south of Rome in late December where they believe Amri stayed in 2015.

They seized several mobile phones during the operation.
