After 90 days of demonetisation, ATMs yet to fully recover
New Delhi, Feb 9 (IANS) Automated Teller machines (ATMs) in Delhi and NCR are yet to regain normalcy even though Prime Minster Narendra Modi's deadline for 90 days got over on Thursday.

The cash machines here still have to recover from the impact of the November 8 demonetisation when high-denomination banknotes were declared illegal.

A full three months after the demonetisation, IANS sampled a number of ATMs in Delhi and found the presence of machines which could dispense cash to be patchy at best.

Out of the seven ATMs visited in Noida's Sector-16 area, only two were found to be working while five of them either displayed 'Out of Order' boards, or had run out of cash.

The machines which were found wanting in cash even after three months of travails faced by the customers belonged to Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, IDBI Bank and SBI.

"There has been no cash deposit today, the last deposit was made two days back. Don't know when it will be done next," the Kotak Mahindra Bank guard told IANS.

The ATMs of Punjab National Bank and ICICI Bank worked and had a short queue of seven to eight persons.

In south Delhi's Saket, two cash machines -- of Canara Bank and Axis Bank -- were found out of cash, while four ATMs were unable to dispense any cash in Khirki Extension of the same area.

Cash machines of PNB, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Canara Bank comprised the non-working lot here.
