Rising Students, Pune City enter IWL semis


New Delhi, Feb 8 (IANS) Rising Students Club and FC Pune City reached the semi-finals of the Indian Womens League (IWL) football championship following their wins over Jeppiaar IT FC (7-0) and Aizawl FC (4-0), respectively, at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Wednesday.

Rising Students sealed the top spot of the standings as they hammered seven goals past Jeppiaar IT to take their points tally to 12.

Jabamani Tudu (68th, 69th, 76th and 90th minutes), Pyari Xaxa (28th, 42nd), Locahana Munda (32nd) were the scorers for Rising Students.

FC Pune City finished fourth in the group stage with seven points in five matches, following their 4-0 win against bottom placed Aizawl FC.

Meanwhile, Aizawl FC did not amass any points in their maiden Indian Women's League campaign, suffering five defeats in five matches.

Roja Devi (19th minute), Laura Estibeiro (31st), Dalima Chhibber and 12-year-old Senorita scored in the dying minutes of the match for Pune.
