NCLT is developing ‘paperless court’

NCLT is developing 'paperless court'
Kolkata, Feb 7 (IANS) The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) is in the process to develop paperless court in the next six months, an official said on Tuesday.

"In the matter concerning amalgamation, merger, de-merger, paper files are very heavy. Having soft copies is a better option. Presently, NCLT has no system for going for paperless court. We are in the process of developing a system of paperless courts," NCLT President M.M. Kumar said here.

"Hopefully, in the next four to six months, we will be able to develop paperless courts," he said, adding that Delhi High Court has two paperless courts.

"The entire system is being developed by the National Informatics Centre," he said on the sidelines of an interactive session organised by the NCLT Kolkata Bar Association along with the MCCI.

Set up in 2016, the NCLT has now 11 benches across 10 locations.

"Three more benches at Kochi, Jaipur and Bhubaneswar are coming in the next two to three months. Total number benches will likely be 24 in about one year's time," Kumar said.

The paperless court will also be extended to new benches, he said.

"Company matter in the High Court used to be taken twice a week. Now we have benches working round the week (five days a week). Naturally, efficiency is bound to come. NCLT will become a one-window solution for corporate cases," he said.
