Bhubaneswar, Feb 6 (IANS) The Central Excise officials on Monday conducted searches at Biju Janata Dal MP Rabindra Jena's office and factory in Balasore.
While a five-member team searched Jena's office at OT Road in Balasore, another team conducted raids at Om pipe manufacturing factory in Somnathpur.
Sources said some incriminating documents were seized during the searches.
However, Jena described the raids as a "political conspiracy" against him.
"I do not know why the Central Excise officials conducted raids. This is a political conspiracy against me as one after another central agencies are conducting raids at my offices and houses," said the BJD MP.
Jena said he won't be surprised if more raids are conducted in the coming days.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had earlier on January 12 conducted searches at Jena's two houses in Balasore in connection with a multi-crore chit fund scam.
The CBI had also searched for Jena's alleged links with the Seashore Group chit fund scam.
Jena was interrogated by the CBI last year as well.
