Kolkata, Feb 1 (IANS) India wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha came up a blistering knock to help Bengal script a 10-wicket win over Assam in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament Eastern Zone leg here at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.
Saha, opening the batting with Sreevats Goswami (71) as Bengal were chasing 147 for victory, notched up an unbeaten 74 off just 45 balls, reminding everyone of his Indian Premier League (IPL) final century for Kings XI Punjab against Kolkata Kinight Riders in 2014.
The dimunitive stumper decorated his innings with 11 fours and one six.
Goswami was also in the zone, scoring 71 off 52 deliveries.
Earlier, Bengal medium pacer Sayan Ghosh returned figures of 3-30 as Assam had Arun Karthik to thank for his unbeaten 76 batting at No.4.
In the other match at the Eden, Tripura rode Udiyan Bose's 74 off just 38 balls to beat Jharkhand by 24 runs.
Jharkhand fought hard to reach the stiff target with opener Shasheem Rathour hitting 70 off 53 balls. But in the end, Joydeep Bhattacharjee took two wickets to dent their chase.
