Mumbai’s Bandra Fort to turn backdrop for LFW finale

Mumbai, Feb 1 (IANS) Fashion designer Anita Dongre's grand finale show at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 will be hosted against the heritage structure of Bandra Fort, also known as Castella de Aguada here, on Sunday. Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan will add her charm as the showstopper.

The five-day fashion gala began on Wednesday at the Reliance Jio Garden, and Dongre's finale will be an offsite show, sponsored by cosmetic brand Lakme -- which Kareena endorses.

"The collection this time is all about organic, natural surroundings and how make-up is combining with skin care. So, argan oil, which is this magical ingredient, is coming into the make-up range and that is why we wanted to choose a natural surrounding without dressing it up too much.

"Therefore, we found this beautiful fort, which has heritage and the natural beauty that we were looking for. That made it the perfect venue for us," Purnima Lamba, Head of Innovations, Lakme, told IANS here.

Talking about having Kareena as a showstopper, Lamba said: "We are absolutely thrilled... I wasn't sure that she would have enough time to recoup and come back, but even before she delivered, she had committed to coming back to the show. This shows how spirited and committed to the brand she is."

Kareena, had in the last edition of the gala, walked the LFW ramp when she was pregnant with her first child. Now she is a mother to son Taimur with husband Saif Ali Khan.

This time, the actress will dazzle in a creation by Dongre, whose line is inspired by Lakme's 'Liquid Gold' collection.
