Hard work helped me to bag ‘Meri Durga’: Sanjay Kaushik

Mumbai, Jan 23 (IANS) Actor Sanjay Kaushik, who will next be seen playing a grey shade character in "Meri Durga", says his hard work helped him bag the upcoming TV show.

"I was looking to debut in long running shows, that's why I joined this show. I am happy as the show will present my both the shades - negative and positive. It's all my hard work which helped me to get this show. I come from Chandigarh, that makes it easy for me to play a Haryanvi role in the show," Sanjay, who previously appeared in shows like "Yeh Hai Aashiqui", "MTV Webbed" and "Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya", said in a statement.

Talking about his role in "Meri Durga", Sanjay said: "I will play Rishi who will be paired opposite Amrita (Aishwarya Sharma), Durga's elder sister."

"Meri Durga" tells the story of a father who, against all odds, is determined to educate his daughter for her better future. Whereas his daughter, despite her best efforts to study and noble intentions, keeps falling short of his expectations.

Actor Vicky Ahuja will be seen as Yashpal Choudhary in the Star Plus show, while child actress Ananya Agarwal will be seen as his daughter Durga.

The show will be aired on Star Plus from January 26.
