Two killed in bomb attack on Afghan sports fans


Mazar-e-Sharif (Afghanistan), Jan 20 (IANS) At least two persons were killed on Friday when a bomb struck a ground where Buzkashi, a national game, was being played in Afghanistan's northern province of Balkh, provincial police spokesman said.

"The initial information found two persons were killed and two others wounded after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was detonated at a Buzkashi ground in Khulm District. The number of the casualties is likely to rise," spokesman Shir Jan Durrani told Xinhua.

Those injured were shifted to a hospital in provincial capital of Mazar-e-Sharif city, the official added.

Security forces have cordoned off the area for precautionary measures. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
