New Delhi, Jan 20 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Friday posted for April 21 appeals of three of the four death row convicts in the December 16 gang-rape and murder, challenging their 10-year jail term in a robbery case.
Justice S.P. Garg said he would hear the appeals filed against September 2, 2015 order of the trial court by convicts Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Akshay Kumar Singh on April 21.
They were convicted for dacoity and receiving stolen property, and awarded 10-year jail term by the trial court.
Six persons, including a juvenile, had beaten up and robbed carpenter Ram Adhar before raping and brutally assaulting a 23-year-old paramedical student in a moving bus in south Delhi on the night of December 16, 2012.
She later succumbed to her injuries.
Approaching the high court, they said the prosecution has failed to prove its case and not placed any material evidence that could prove them guilty, so the order of the trial court is against the principle of natural justice.
