Kolkata, Jan 19 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday announced Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the two villagers shot dead during the protest against farmland acquisition in Bhangar as well as victims of two accidents.
She announced a compensation of the like amount for the families of eight persons from Birbhum who died in a road accident on Sunday.
Two families which lost five members in a road accident at Bakrahat will also get Rs 2 lakh each.
"The families of the eight dead in Birbhum accident, two in Bakrahat and two in Bhangar will get Rs two lakh each on humanitarian grounds," the Chief Minister said.
