New Delhi, Jan 18 (IANS) Rise in maximum temperature gave relief from cold to the residents of the national capital on Wednesday with the maximum temperature recorded at 19.1 degrees Celsius and minimum at 4.2. Thursday is also expected to be pleasant.

According to the weather department, the maximum and minimum temperatures on Wednesday settled one and three notches below the season's average respectively, which was better compared to last few days. However it indicated that it was a temporary relief from cold.

"The mercury may go down in next two-three days due the presence of western disturbances in the hilly areas in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

 

The official said the maximum and minimum temperatures on Thursday would be around 20 and 4 degrees Celsius, respectively.

"There would be shallow/moderate fog in the morning on Thursday with partly cloudy sky the day ahead," the Met office forecast.

The weather office said the humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 100 per cent while the humidity oscillated between 100 and 60 per cent.

Five trains are arriving late, eight are rescheduled and one was cancelled due to foggy weather conditions. Two international and nine domestic flights were delayed due to fog.

Tuesday's maximum temperature was recorded at 15.7 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season's average, while the minimum temperature was 4.2 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average.
