Ranchi, Jan 17 (IANS) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Anil Murmu died on Tuesday in Dumka following a heart attack, party sources said.
Murmu, 45, complained of chest pain in the afternoon at his home in Karhardil village of Dumka, said party sources.
He was first treated by a local doctor and then shifted to the Dumka Sadar Hospital, where he breathed his last.
Murmu is survived by his mother, wife and six children.
He was elected first time in 2014 assembly elections from Littipara seat after defeating BJP heavyweight Simon Marandi.
Jharkhand Governor Draupdi Murmu, Chief Minister Raghubar Das and senior JMM leaders have condoled the death of Murmu.
