Mumbai, Jan 16 (IANS) Acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi, who is in India for a location recce for his new movie, decided to travel in a suburban train to connect better with the pulse of the city's people.
Well-known across the world for films like "The Colour of Paradise", "Baran", "The Song of Sparrows", "Muhammad: The Messenger of God" and the Oscar nominated "Children of Heaven", Majidi chose a train over a car to explore Mumbai, a source in the know of developments told IANS.
Majidi's English language film, which is set in India, will go on floors here next month. For this, the filmmaker has been vising India very frequently in order to lock down the locations.
"Majidi is known for bringing out the most realistic side of human emotions in his films. When he had to go location hunting in the city, he preffered train over car so as to connect with the pulse of the people at the grassroot level," the source added.
According to reports, the movie will be shot in Delhi, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Kashmir, apart from Mumbai.
Photographs featuring Deepika Padukone in a deglamourised look test for the film -- rumoured to be titled "Floating Garden" -- had done the rounds in the media last year. However, no confirmation -- regarding either her presence in the movie or the title -- has been made so far.
"The official announcement regarding the project will be made soon," the source said.
