Jammu, Jan 10 (IANS) The Indian army on Tuesday announced compensation of Rs 1 lakh each to next of kin of three labourers killed in a terror attack in Jammu district.
"Army has announced financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to the kin of three labourers killed and Rs 25,000 to the injured in the dastardly attack by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists on the unarmed civilian persons at the GREF camp at Battal in Akhnoor Sector," defence spokesman, Lt. Col. Manish Mehta said here.
Heavily-armed terrorists had attacked the Battal GREF camp early on January 9.
"The Chief of Army Staff while strongly condemning the cowardly terror attack, assured that the Pakistan sponsored terrorists would not be permitted to disturb the peace and tranquility in J&K.
"He extended condolences on behalf of the Army to the victims and their families," added Mehta.
