New Delhi, Jan 6 (IANS) Delhi government on Friday cleared the out-of-turn promotion for the Olympic medal winner wrestler Sakshi Malik's father Sukhbir Malik.
The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Sukhbir Malik, a bus conductor with Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), was commended by the Delhi government for creating an atmosphere for his daughter so that she could raise the nation's honour.
"There was a minor discrepancy in the ACR of Sakshi Malik's father, which was coming in the way of his promotion and the cabinet decided to bypass it considering the family condition and sacrifices done by him," said Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, adding that the decision has been taken to encourage the people of the country to motivate their children to excel in sports.
Sakshi Malik won a freestyle wrestling bronze medal in the 58 kg category at the Rio Olympics in August.
