Conduct admissions in fair and transparent manner, Delhi schools told

New Delhi, Jan 5 (IANS) The Delhi government on Thursday asked all private schools except ones built on government land to commence with entry level admission in a transparent manner.

"As per orders of honorable High Court of Delhi, all private schools have to adopt the criteria of admission which must be clear, well defined, equitable, non discriminatory, unambiguous and transparent," Delhi's Directorate of Education (DoE) said in a statement.

The admissions for nursery, KG, prep, and class 1, were started on January for the schools except for the ones built on land allotted to them by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

There are about 300 schools in the capital which are built on government land for which the admission criteria is yet to be clarified by the Delhi government.

The list of such schools can be found at the education department's website, www.edudel.nic.in.

The department also shared a weblink (http://doepvt.delhi.gov.in) and asked the parents and guardians to register their grievance if they find any school non-complying with the rules.

The aggrieved party can address any complaints related to "donation or capitation fee being charged by schools, non display of criteria or procedure of admissions, non-availability of admission forms".

The schools were also directed to display the number of seats available and later allotted to children with a break-up of marks awarded to them on each count, on their notice boards and websites.
